BeeFriendly

They are so small that you barely notice them, but our ecosystem is highly dependent on them: Bees.

Eighty percent of our food at some point relies on pollination. Yet, in the last decade, we have witnessed an extreme decrease in bee populations. One of the several factors that leads to the phenomenon, known as Colony Collapse Disorder, is the increasing and now common place use of pesticides on crops. Already Albert Einstein has observed that “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left.”

Our team of engaged and motivated students from Maastricht University has recognized the problem and is currently developing a solution from a social entrepreneurship approach. Until they have found a promising business concept, one of their main objectives is to raise awareness for the topic, for instance through interactive workshops as well as preparing the market for their future products.
